The original Squid Game debuted in September 2021 and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The show follows Gi-hun, a financially struggling man who enters a mysterious survival game with a ₩45.6 billion prize. Contestants must survive six childhood games — with fatal consequences for failure. Season 1 ended with Gi-hun deciding not to flee the country, vowing to take down the game’s creators instead.
